The Glossary
Visa
A visa is a pre-travel document that allows a visitor to come to a country, present themselves to immigration officials at the country's port of entry (such as an airport, seaport, or land border) and request permission to enter the country where they must satisfy entry requirements, carry valid travel documents, and may be subject to questioning by border officials who ultimately decide whether to grant entry.
A visa is distinctly different from a work permit or residence permit. It solely relates to the entry process for a country, functioning purely as a travel document that allows visitors to request permission to enter the host country.
