Entity

The term entity has various definitions.

In the context of the Navigator, an entity is something that has its own legal identity and can independently engage in businesss activities. It can be an organization but also a person.

A legal entity is an organization that has legal rights and responsibilities, separate from those of its owners or members. It can own property, enter into contracts, sue or be sued, and be held accountable for its actions. It is treated as a separate "person" in the eyes of the law. Common types of legal entities include corporations and limited liability companies.
